New Zealand Seminar Date!

We are proud to announce an event planned for the beginning of September in Auckland New Zealand. The guest speaker for the latest vid lesson is joining the ranks of the school program. His school in New Zealand will host a seminar with Guro “Boo Dog” on the first weekend in September. There will be four seminar sessions that weekend. One will be for kids while the other three will be adults only. The school program is growing exponentially! The response in New Zealand and Australia has been tremendous. Australia Seminar Date Set!

Beston-Gracie Jiu Jitsu in Newcastle, Australia is very excited to announce an upcoming seminar featuring the legendary Dog Brothers Martial Arts. The event will take place on September 7th through the 9th 2012.

This seminar will cover the full spectrum of the Dog Brothers Martial Arts School Program including striking, grappling, and of course stick, knife and knife defence. While the Dog Brothers are best known for their full contact stick fighting, this seminar is not only for fighters, but also for everyone who would like to learn their proven Dog Brothers Martial Arts techniques in a fun and safe environment. This includes a Dog Brothers Martial Arts for kids seminar to be taught on the Friday 7th of September.

The adults seminar will run over two days: Saturday the 8th and Sunday the 9th of September. The sessions will cover all three of the core programs which make up Dog Brothers Martial Arts:

A) Dog Brothers Real Contact Stickfighting, Filipino and other Southeast Asian Martial Arts

B) “Kali Tudo” ™: This is our empty handed sub-system for MMA

C) “Die Less Often” (DLO): the interface of gun, knife, and empty hand

Participation is open to martial artists of any style with no previous experience required. This seminar may be of particular interest to students of the Filipino Martial Arts who would like to learn the Dog Brothers interpretation of the arts, and also to Martial Artists and Law Enforcement Officers who would like to expand their self defence abilities particularly related to defending against armed attackers and the use of improvised weapons. Students of Mixed Martial Arts will also benefit from learning the unique “Kali Tudo” techniques.

The Seminar will be taught by Guro Mat “Boo” Booe, the international director of the Dog Brothers Martial Arts School Program and veteran of over 50 of the Dog Brothers Real Contact stick fights.

Aside from their core Gracie Jiu Jitsu program, the Beston-Gracie academy has had a small but enthusiastic group of students training in the techniques of Floro Fighting Systems and Modern Arnis since the beginning of the year. They are all very excited at the upcoming opportunity to add the techniques of DBMA to their repertoire and to join the ranks of the Dog Brothers Martial Arts School Program. Chicago Seminar – February 2011

This Feb 2011 we kicked off our very 1st DBMASP event in Chicago (Suburbs to be a bit more accurate). I was honored to host Guro Denny and Guro Booe for a 2 day Seminar and Padded Weapons Tournament. Despite the Blizzard we had a few days before, many showed up to learn and to fight. It was a great group and above all things we had a blast!

Friday night started things off with a Kids Kali Seminar by Guro Mat Booe. This was awesome. The kids had fun, the parents were enjoying every minute and i was very impressed with the instruction. Moving on from there was the Seminar material presented by the “Crafty Dog” himself with the help of the “Boo Dog”. I will say that it was great to have 2 instructors working the room and helping out. This really gave my students a great opportunity to work with top notch teachers. It was a good balance of information and drilling time which i think is very important for a student.

In addition to the above, there was a padded weapons tournament that was held at the gym. This was something that students really enjoyed. This was a good time for them to test their skills and knowledge in a safe and friendly environment. Mat Booe did a great job helping to organize and coach me through this whole process as the host of such a large event and i am looking forward to the next one.

Overall, the DBMASP is now officially underway and classes have started here in Chicago. I think the DBMASP is a great opportunity for students to learn about the FMA arts as well as the RCSF. I also want to stress that this is a GREAT OPPORTUNITY for school owners, instructors or anyone thinking about starting a martial arts school. Martial arts is constantly evolving. This is the future in martial arts and the DBMA is leading the way.
